July 30, 2010 – Birdsboro, Pennsylvania – On Tuesday, July 27 and Wednesday, July 28, CJ’s Tire and Automotive Services celebrated with their loyal customers and colleagues at Eagles Training Camp. As a part of a sponsorship agreement with the Philadelphia Eagles, CJ’s was able to host two VIP days for up to 1000 guests. However, more than just using this event as a “thank you” for their current customers, CJ’s employed the help of the Muscular Dystrophy Association to extend this once in a lifetime opportunity to families with children suffering from neuromuscular diseases.
“It is very rare that we, as a local organization, get to participate in something of this level,” explains Martin Brans, Executive Director of the Muscular Dystrophy Association in Allentown. “But what’s more, we were able to share it with the children.”
These families, along with all of CJ’s guests, had the chance to watch practice right from the sidelines. Also, they got to take part in post-practice Press Conference hosted on Tuesday by former Eagles player, Hugh Douglas and sportscaster, Merrill Reese and on Wednesday by Hugh Douglas and former Eagles player, Mike Quick. Guests were able to share their thoughts on how the team shaping up, as well as ask questions to a panel of five Eagles players, including Mike Kafka, Jamaal Jackson, Ricky Sapp, Todd Herremans and A.Q. Shipley. After the Press Conference, CJ’s raffled off autographed Eagles merchandise and invited everyone to enjoy a fully catered gourmet lunch.
“We’re big Eagles fans, explained Michael Bell of West Lawn, so we knew this would a great opportunity and a lot of fun for our children.” Michael and Regina Bell attended with their three sons, two of which suffer from Spinal Muscle Atrophy, a neuromuscular disease that causes progressive muscle deterioration and weakness. The Bell boys, in particular, got to share some one-on-one time with Hugh Douglas and Mike Quick after the press conference, an exciting moment for any past, present or future Eagles fan.
“We are always looking for new ways to reach out to our community, relays CJ’s Operations Manager, Greg Mynaugh, “and we felt that this was the perfect platform to not only thank our customers, but to also show our continued support for MDA.”
